Jump In and Help

Jump In and Help

When the going gets tough, rough and ugly, the kind thing to do is Jump In and get your hands dirty.

If you see someone in trouble, in need of help, do exactly that – help!

There are so many situations that come up where people need help. A friend posted on Facebook the other day about an elderly man with dementia attempting to cross the street – not a single person besides herself stopped to take the time to assist him…and had she not, the poor man might never have found his way home.

But it doesn’t have to be that dramatic. If you see someone with an armful of groceries, or a stroller full of children trying to get through a door – open it for them.

If you see someone having trouble trying to do something you know how to, offer to give them a hand.

I think this world has become so disconnected because we have this tendency to put blinders on when we are out and about, so we don’t have to acknowledge other people’s troubles or just their lives in general.

So next time you’re out, instead of getting frustrated….see what you can do to help in any situation…jump in and get those hands dirty.

Stay tuned during the month of April to see other ways in which you can incorporate kindness into your daily life and encourage others to do the same…I’ll return to my senses on May 1.

I'm 42, a remarried mom of an 8 year old girl and a toddler son, a teacher, and a writer. People tell me I tend to be brutally honest and ...tell it like it is, so I had hoped to use this outlet to keep me sane while I got used to my new life as a stay-at-home Mom back when I was home with my daughter....it worked. And it's been therapeutic through the end of a marriage and the emergence of me...

  1. You’re so right, we all need to jump in a bit more and help each other out. It’s the small things sometimes that make the biggest impact.
