30 Days of Thanks 2014 – Day 10

Today I am thankful to watch several students I know cross the stage for their high school diploma. For many of them, to get to this point was a struggle. Much of the struggle could have been avoided if habits were better, but even if they were better, some of them still had mountains to climb for that piece of paper with their name on it.

I’m always happy to be at the top of the mountain saying, “C’mon, you can do this. Get out of your own way. Trust your gut.” And I’m even happier when they make it to the top, put on their glider wings and soar over the valleys below.

I am grateful – to have been their teacher, and for them to have been mine.

I'm 42, a remarried mom of an 8 year old girl and a toddler son, a teacher, and a writer. People tell me I tend to be brutally honest and ...tell it like it is, so I had hoped to use this outlet to keep me sane while I got used to my new life as a stay-at-home Mom back when I was home with my daughter....it worked. And it's been therapeutic through the end of a marriage and the emergence of me...
