Today I am thankful to watch several students I know cross the stage for their high school diploma. For many of them, to get to this point was a struggle. Much of the struggle could have been avoided if habits were better, but even if they were better, some of them still had mountains to climb for that piece of paper with their name on it.


I’m always happy to be at the top of the mountain saying, “C’mon, you can do this. Get out of your own way. Trust your gut.” And I’m even happier when they make it to the top, put on their glider wings and soar over the valleys below.

I am grateful – to have been their teacher, and for them to have been mine.
