38 is…

the atomic number of strontium, a highly reactive metal that turns yellow when exposed to air, much like my skin when exposed to the sun turns bright red if I don’t slather on SPF 55.

…the number in the name of a spiral galaxy in the constellation Pisces…I’m a Pisces too 🙂

…evidently an important number in Norse mythology that represented unnatural bravery (though I cannot verify this through any source that does not refer back to Wikipedia).  Regardless of the source of the information, it is a quality I would always hope to have.

…the number in the name of the Southern rock band .38 Special.  My heart got a “second chance” in the last year, though not like the one in the song.

is the number of candles on my birthday cake today.  Last year, at this time I was starting over, feeling raw still, but things were looking up.  Today, while there is always work to do and ways in which to grow, I am healthy and happy and loved.

Happy Birthday to me…and happy Monday to you!
