30 Days of Thanks – Day 23 (Southern California)

Today I am thankful for living in beautiful Southern California.  Most people who come here to visit from across the country, don’t understand why people would choose to live here – the roads are filled with cars, the air with smog, the people are plastic.   Well, today I was able to see the ocean, mountains, sunny sky, fog-covered strawberry crops, a quaint seaside town, experience warm and chilly weather, and have a decent meal out…all within a 60-mile radius of my house.  If we drove in a different direction, we could have done a number of other incredibly cool things as well.  I love living here, despite my complaints on days when Black Friday is not keeping people off of the 101, and for that I am grateful.

I'm 42, a remarried mom of an 8 year old girl and a toddler son, a teacher, and a writer. People tell me I tend to be brutally honest and ...tell it like it is, so I had hoped to use this outlet to keep me sane while I got used to my new life as a stay-at-home Mom back when I was home with my daughter....it worked. And it's been therapeutic through the end of a marriage and the emergence of me...

  1. I’ve been to L.A. – specifically, my ex brother-in-law lived in Redondo Beach at the time. In fact we visited them at Thanksgiving, 2004 – we saw the Tonight Show with Jay Leno taped twice in one day LOL The thing that always stuck in my mind was the city itself – being English, you see it in movies all the time and, honestly, it was a bit of an anti-climax LOL I was expecting more, because of the movies… but then, realistically, I knew it wouldn’t be like Manhattan either LOL

It amazed me that you could drive through the city centre in about ten or fifteen minutes. I got a kick out of seeing the Bradbury Building (Blade Runner) too 😀

I guess I didn’t know what to expect LOL

What's your 2 sense?
