42 top of the hill birthday

…the answer I give when someone asks me “How many…?” – I don’t even let them ask me how many of what. I cut them off, because it’s funnier that way. Ever seen “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”…?

But it’s a lot more…

…is the number of the Rule in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland that says if you’re more than a mile high, you need to leave the court. I would have been able to stay because I’m quite a lot shorter than that.

…is the sum of the first six positive even numbers. Says the Wiki.

…is the number of a Messier object …quite a pretty one called the Orion Nebula. I’ve seen this one before. But this year, I’ll look again.

…is unlucky in Japanese culture, because when you pronounce them separately, sounds like the word “death” – good thing only .3% of my ancestry is East Asian. Sheesh.

…is the number of questions asked of one upon crossing over in Ancient Egyptian culture. And since the latest Facebook clickbait quiz told me I was formerly Cleopatra I suppose I should pay attention to this one. Answering all of the questions “reasonably” allows you to become a Star and continue to give Light. I kind of like that part.

…is the number with which G-d creates the Universe…in Kabbalah. Not sure what to say about that one other than I do feel this is going to be a creative year for me in general…

…is the critical angle for which a rainbow appears. I hope many come my way from now until 43 and beyond.

…is the last number in the series of “numbers” in one of my favorite television mind-fu%$s – Lost. One of these days I’ll need to rewatch that from start to finish.

…is the jersey number of Mr. Jackie Robinson, pioneer in my favorite sport of baseball.

…is the number of a very popular street in my most favorite city in the United States – New York.

…is also the number of candles that will be on my birthday cake today. Well, more likely just a few, but they’ll represent 42.

Last year, was not pretty but it was most definitely spiral. I’m definitely not over the hill…but I might be approaching the top. We still have not taken the tour of Dodger Stadium. I’m busier than I have ever been but this time around it’s mostly for good. I chose a word of the year, and it’s “listen” – I’ve started out by listening to my body and giving it the rest it needs…one of the reasons why I didn’t do my word of the year post yet (and probably …no definitely won’t.)

I have high hopes and dreams for this year…and they’re not too much to ask. Those dreams are in the universe and I’m ready to receive them….just need to do my part…5,4,3,2,1…Go!
